A modern escape room can rightfully be called a real social performance, where each participant unwittingly plays their role. For some, it’s a talent, for others—a habit, and someone just «shows their true self in stressful situations.» If you’ve been to an escape room at least once, you’ll definitely recognize yourself and your teammates among the types we’ve listed. And if not yet—everything is still ahead of you, which makes reading this article even more exciting.
The Leader
You go here, and you search there—and don’t touch anything extra!» If you hear that, you can be sure you’re dealing with a leader player. They immediately take control of the situation and assign tasks to each team member. Sometimes they may be annoying, but they’re the ones who keep everyone from getting lost.
The Searcher
They flip the room upside down within the first five minutes after crossing the threshold. Under the box? In the vase? Behind the painting?
They’ve already found three keys, two clues, and someone else’s 10% discount voucher, while the rest are still discussing a plan. The team won’t get far without them!
The Analyst
They sit in the corner, staring at strange symbols and mumbling something under their breath. Often it seems they’re not even playing—but in fact, the most complex puzzles fall on their shoulders, and they can crack them in two minutes.
The Alarmist
We only have 55 minutes left!»—that’s the alarmist who starts watching the clock long before time is short. They might twist a combo lock backward from nerves or mistake a clue for part of the decor. Their role is to keep everyone alert, and mostly follow the leader’s instructions.
The Silent Genius
This player is quiet for almost the whole game, walking around with a detached look… And then suddenly, and just as silently, they open the final door a minute before time’s up. Everyone applauds, they nod modestly—and go silent again.
The Story Fan
Remember how Neo jumped off the roof here?» This type of player carefully reads every note, gets into character, and without a doubt, will ask to take a photo with the props after the game.
The Hyperactive One
They are everywhere at once, in every corner of the room! Running between rooms, pressing all the buttons, checking items that haven’t even been activated yet—might even break something by accident.
Sometimes they’re a distraction, sometimes they find the solution by accident. Overall, a fun player type.
The Critic
From this player, you might hear, «I’ve seen this before,» or «This puzzle’s for school kids…» Their value lies in the fact that after the quest, they’re the one you can always have a proper discussion with about the pros and cons of the adventure.
The Comedian
Even in the tensest moment, they’ll find time for a joke. Every clue comes with a comment, they’ll mimic the Genie’s voice or take a selfie with a character without even asking. Their presence alone brings good vibes to the team.
The All-Rounder
Quiet, calm, but always knows what to do. Will spot the clue in time, find the code, and open the final door. Without them, the team just doesn’t work as well.
So, Who Are You?
It all depends on the team you manage to gather for your escape room visit. Watch closely to see who takes on which role this time—because roles can change with every game!
